Self Portraits oil colors

Why self portraits?

For many years, I have been engaged in self-portraiture. The project started as an attempt to learn how to paint portraits (it was difficult to find a model, so I chose myself). I developed my technique and aimed to express experiences and emotional depth which over time became an obsession.

My first self portraits were created by looking in a mirror. Using different techniques and mediums.   I found an unexpected fascination with my "self".  I construct and deconstruct my image with delicate lines, erasuures and layers, often infused with selfirony. i turn self-observation into a way of bridging feelings of disconnectiob and creating a renrwed sense of self. The turning point came when I began preparing for the group exhibition "Body Signs" (curated by Carmel Goffer). From that moment onwards, I began to find a profound significance between myself as a individual and my portraits which reflected different aspects of my personal life.

My works range from intimate small pieces to large-scale drawings and video animations, inviting the viewer into a direct and personal enconter.
